A new vision for the Temple Mount (Al Haram Al Sharif), as described last week in a Washington Post column, was presented today at the Konrad Adenauer Conference Centre of Mishkenot Shaananim in Jerusalem.  “Although proposed for long-range study and dialogue, it addresses a real stumbling block in past peace negotiations,” said project director Yoav Frankel.

The concept is based upon an article about Jewish law which opens the possibility that a future rebuilt Jewish Temple could be situated in peaceful proximity to existing Islamic and Christian shrines.  "It can transform the Temple Mount from a place of contention to its original sacred role as 'God’s Holy Mountain,'” said Frankel.

The project’s note card shows Jews, Muslims and Christians passing together through the Gate of Mercy to their respective shrines and “to a world in which God reigns supreme, according to the prophecy: ‘On that day God will be One and His Name One’ (Zech. 14:9).”
