"We wish to invite you to attend the National Council of Churches Faith and
Order Commission's "Christology and Peace Consultation" on Sunday, October
17, in Pasadena, California.  This is one of our contributions to the World
Council of Churches Decade to Overcome Violence (DOV) as it focuses on the
U.S. in 2004.

The agenda of the Consultation will include an introductioni to the DOV by
Dr. Deenabandhu Manchala (Programme Executive, WCC Faith and Order office,
Geneva, Switzerland), several major papers and shorter responses, closing
with time for discussion.  Presenters and topics include:  new work on
Christology by Mennonite theologian Dr. J. Denny Weaver (Bluffton College);
a paper by Fr. Arthur Kennedy (Executive Director, Secretariat for
Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops)
drawing upon the relationship between peace and Christology in Gaudium et
Spes, the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World of the
Second Vatican Council; a presentation on Womanist thought on the
relationship between Christology and intimate violence against persons; and
a response by Dr. George Hunsinger (Presbyterian at Princeton Theological
Seminary), Dr. Glen Stassen (Baptist at Fuller Theological Seminary), and a
Greek Orthodox respondent. "
